We’ve all heard it, but it bears repeating. This election is the most important for our democracy since the 19th century. And it is the most important for reproductive healthcare in generations. MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD – CAST YOUR VOTE.
We are in the battle for control of our lives, and we need representatives at all levels of government who understand that personal decisions about our bodies belong to us, not to politicians. WE WON’T GO BACK.
Included here is a list of all candidates running in the 2024 General Election in McHenry County along with MCCC ratings. Our online questionnaire was sent to all candidates and resent to those who did not respond to our first eblast. Here is the key to our listing:
- Pro-choice (PC) candidates are assessed with information from Planned Parenthood, Personal PAC, NOW and candidate statements.
- Anti-choice (AC) designations are taken from voter information from Illinois Right to Life Action and/or Illinois Family Institute, as well as candidate statements.

VOTE AS IF YOUR LIFE, AND THAT OF YOUR DAUGHTERS, GRANDDAUGHTERS, NIECES, AND NEIGHBORS DEPENDED ON IT…BECAUSE THEY DO!
Here are the six questions that comprised our pro-choice questionnaire that was sent to all candidates.
- Do you agree with the separation of church and state and if so, do you also agree that your religious beliefs and/or religious affiliations will not prevent you from voting to protect reproductive rights in any and all proposed legislation involving abortion or personal reproductive decisions?
- Do you believe that being a pro-choice elected official means supporting actions that seek to maintain, affirm, and expand access to reproductive healthcare?
- Do you believe that being a pro-choice elected official means NOT supporting actions that seek to limit, reduce, or eradicate access to reproductive healthcare?
- Do you oppose the practice of “options” counseling by Crisis Pregnancy Centers that misinform, mislead, and intimidate pregnant people while declining to make referrals for abortions or birth control.
- Will you diligently express to your political leaders the importance of promoting a pro-choice agenda?
- If and when there is an opportunity to elect a new leader of your political organization, will you support only a candidate for that position who has a record of being 100% pro-choice?
